American voters are split 48-47 on President-elect Donald Trump supporting efforts to repeal Obamacare, according to the latest Quinnipiac University national poll released Thursday.

The issue is a partisan one, with 86 percent of Republicans said Trump should support an Affordable Care Act appeal, while 78 percent of Democrats said he should not.

In a separate question, only 31 percent support no repeal of any part of the ACA, while 47 percent said repeal parts of the President Barack Obama's signature legislation, and just 18 percent said all of it should go.

The poll also asked about climate change, and a majority of American voters are concerned about it.

  • 45 percent "very concerned."
  • 29 percent "somewhat concerned.”
  • 14 percent "not so concerned.”
  • 13 percent "not concerned at all.”

On that campaign issue, 59 percent said Trump should not remove regulations combating climate change vs. just 32 percent who said he should. It was a partisan issue, too:

  • 81 percent Democrats oppose removing regulations.
  • 52 percent Republicans support regulatory roll back.

"Not exactly a hearty endorsement of two highly controversial stances President-elect Donald Trump has taken: A split decision on scrapping Obamacare, but no ambivalence on climate change," Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said.

"'Preserve the planet, Mr. Trump,' is the stern advice of voters."

The Quinnipiac national poll surveyed 899 voters Jan. 5-9, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points. Its findings differed from an American Action Network poll that found 70 percent support an Obamacare repeal.
