Huffington Post Accuses NYC Cop of Murder

The Huffington Post turned heads Thursday with a headline referencing the case of Eric Garner, a black man who died in July after a New York City police officer placed him in a chokehold during an arrest.

"How To Get Away With Murder," read the headline, alluding to a grand jury's decision of not to indict police officer Daniel Pantaleo in the case, which led to the death of the 43-year-old Garner.

Garner was approached by officers on July 17 for selling untaxed cigarettes and was forcibly taken down when he refused to cooperate with the arresting officer.

Garner, who was 6-foot-5 and 350 pounds, suffered from a number of health problems, including heart disease, severe asthma, diabetes, obesity, and sleep apnea. He said he could not breathe several times while in the chokehold, and he died about an hour later. The arrest was captured on video.

Pantaleo's attorney and police union officials argued that Garner's poor health was the main cause of his death.

According to Breitbart, which took a screenshot of the Huffington Post's homepage, the main headline had several lines of text underneath it:

"2 Non-Indictments in 8 Days… 'I Can't Breathe'… Darren Wilson Goes Free...."

Below that was a list of other black people who have either been abused or killed by police officers.

The grand jury's decision was announced Wednesday and came one week after a grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri, decided not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Protests have erupted across the country in response to both cases.
