Obama: I Had a 'Bad' Night During Debate

By    |   Wednesday, 10 Oct 2012 09:50 PM

Despite losing large leads in nearly every poll, President Obama continued to pull punches and stay nice to Governor Mitt Romney during the home stretch of the Presidential election campaign in an interview today.

Obama told ABC’s Diane Sawyer today that he had a "bad night" and had not blown the election despite not calling Romney out on “clouding” several of his positions during the October 3 debate.

“What’s important is the fundamentals of what this race is about haven’t changed,” he said. “You know, Governor Romney went to a lot of trouble to try to hide what his positions are.”

The President offered abortion as an example of Romney’s dishonesty about his position on the issues, but stopped short of calling a seeming adjustment to his campaign platform pandering or a lie.

Romney has campaigned consistently as pro-life, and hoping to overturn Roe v Wade if he is elected President, but in an interview with the Des Moines Register claimed there is no legislation he plans to champion regarding abortion, which Obama points to as a flip flop.

A spokesperson for the Romney campaign dismissed Obama’s comments as evidence of a flailing campaign trying to fool Americans into confusion about his opponent.
