A series of television ads in nine states about the importance of both repealing and replacing Obamacare is set to start on Wednesday, according to One Nation, a political advocacy group connected to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Axios has reported.

The publicity blitz, which is expected to last three weeks and cost more than $3 million, also includes promotions on radio and newspapers, as well as digital ads.

The central message of the ad campaign is to both highlight the failures of the Affordable Care Act and to attack conservative hardliners such as the Freedom Caucus who are pushing their desire to first repeal Obamacare and then figure out the details of a replacement later.

In parallel, One Nation is set to distribute on Capitol Hill polls which show that twice as many Americans want Obamacare repealed only when a replacement is ready over those who want it repealed immediately.

Those surveys also show that even among Republicans, only 33 percent think the law should be repealed immediately, while 56 percent say it should be repealed when a replacement is ready.

The start of the ad campaign comes as McConnell gave details of what he wants to see in a replacement for Obamacare, The Daily Independent reported.

Speaking to a Chamber of Commerce group in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, the Senate majority leader insisted that he wants to keep coverage for those with pre-existing conditions through "state-based high-risk pools. If you can remove those people [with pre-existing conditions] from the market, it would stabilize the market."
