FBI Director James Comey, looking to boost his agency's image, allowed crews into his agency's New York office to film a new TV series.

"I worry sometimes that people don't know us," Comey said explaining why he approved the filming of the documentary series, "Inside the FBI: New York."

"We have to care what people think of us," Comey said "The faith and confidence of the American people is the bedrock."

His comments were reported by the New York Post.

The show, produced by Dick Wolf, the man behind TV's "Law & Order," will start on April 27 on the USA Network, Deadline Hollywood reported.

Filmmaker Marc Levin and a crew were embedded with the FBI's flagship New York office for over a year, Wolf has said previously.

Comey acknowledged his agency has left people puzzled by its actions in the past.

"We did a lot last year that confused people," Comey said referring to the presidential election.

But he insisted the FBI was not at fault.

"If you see the world through sides, the FBI doesn't make a lot of sense to you," he said. "We are not on anybody's side. We really don't care.".
