Sandy Victims Cry for Help as Obama Hits Campaign Trail in Midwest

Monday, 05 Nov 2012 11:32 AM

While President Barack Obama stays on the campaign trail in the Midwest, residents in the Northeast are begging for his help.

A Weekly Standard video shows Hurricane Sandy victims pleading for assistance.

“I contacted FEMA, it takes so long. We have no place to go,” one emotional woman pleaded.

“You need to come here and help us. Please,” another woman begged.

"We are hurting down here," one woman in Belle Harbor, Queens said. "And we need help. Immediately."

Obama, on the stump, claimed, “We will stand with folks in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut every step of the way until they have fully recovered.”

But a week later, many in devastated areas in Queens, Staten Island, and in New Jersey are wondering why the response is so slow.

“Help isn’t coming fast enough,” another woman told a reporter.

Meanwhile, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani called Obama’s response “disgraceful.”

“Maybe the first day or two of the storm, the president did a good job,” Giuliani said, according to the Daily Caller. “The last three or four days? It’s disgraceful.”

Giuliani went on to say, “Go take a look at New York and New Jersey right now, six days later. This man [Obama] has been a disaster on emergency response. … I’ve never seen one as bad as this. I’ve never seen a president walk out as much as this.”

“If George Bush had done this, they’d be impeaching him right now. If George Bush had done this, the media would have been all over him,” Giuliani said.
