Hillary Clinton is defending her "service as secretary of state" amid sharp accusations that Clinton Foundation donors got special favors and access, declaring "no decision" she ever made "was influenced by anybody."

In an interview aired Monday on ABC News' "World News Tonight," and again Tuesday on "Good Morning America," the Democratic nominee also said she doesn't think her husband, former President Bill Clinton, should step down from the Clinton Foundation before the election.

"I feel very good about the work of the foundation," she said during the joint interview with running mate Sen. Tim Kaine, and posted ahead of the interviews by ABC News.

"I feel very good about my service as secretary of state. No decision I ever made was influenced by anybody. What I made a decision based on was what was good for the United States, what was good for our values, our interests, and our security. And the State Department has confirmed there's no evidence of any such influence at all."

Clinton also defended her husband's role at the Clinton Foundation.

"I don't think there are conflicts of interest," she said in the interview. "I know that that's what has been alleged and never proven. But nevertheless, I take it seriously," adding:

"I'm very proud of the work that the Clinton Foundation has done. It's a world-renowned charity because of the work that my husband started and many, many people helped him with. ... He started this great work. He has made it his life's work, after the presidency. And he has said, if I am so fortunate enough to be elected, he will not be involved. And I think that is appropriate."

Emails released last month showed foundation donors getting special favors and access to the State Department while Clinton served as secretary of state.

But Clinton said she was never swayed.

"All of these questions about the Clinton Foundation, I am more than happy to answer," she said.

"But I do hope that people will take a look at what the foundation has done, what charitable enterprises it's involved in. ... No decision I made was, you know, influenced by anything other than doing what was best for the United States."
