Hillary Clinton took to Twitter on Friday to urge prayers for the hostages in Bangladesh and to vow that the United States "will never succumb to fear and hate."

Here's the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee's post:

Heavily armed terrorists struck took dozens of hostages at a restaurant popular with foreigners in Bangladesh's diplomatic zone.

Two police officers were killed and at least 26 people wounded in a gun battle as security forces cordoned off the area and sought to end the standoff, which extended into the overnight hours.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka's Gulshan area, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist activity online.

At least 35 people, including about 20 foreigners, were still trapped inside the restaurant, authorities said.

Bangladesh did not immediately respond to the claim of responsibility by ISIS. The U.S. State Department said it had seen the terrorist group's claim, but could not confirm its authenticity.

Clinton's likely Republican opponent, Donald Trump, was campaigning in Denver on Friday and posted no tweets on the crisis.
