Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid says he is tired of waiting for a confirmation vote on attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch, and he's just about ready to force a vote.

Reid was interviewed by MSNBC's Rachel Maddow in a piece that aired on her show Thursday night.

"We've put up with this far too long and we're going to need to have a vote on her very soon that's created by [Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell or I'll create one," Reid said. "I can still do that. I know parliamentary procedure around here and we’re going to put up with this for a little while longer, but not much."

President Barack Obama nominated Lynch for the position in November, when Democrats still controlled the Senate. But Republicans have been in the majority since January following the November midterm elections.

Lynch's confirmation has been stalled by Republicans among other action, but Reid said he will not continue waiting forever. Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin drew fire when he invoked race, when he said Republicans were putting Lynch, who is black, at the "back of the bus."

"If we don't get something done soon I will force a vote," Reid told Maddow. "I had a conversation today with a number of Republicans and told them already to get her done, or I will make sure they will have an opportunity to vote against her."
