Megyn Kelly is leaving Fox News for NBC, her new network confirmed Tuesday.

"Megyn Kelly, one of America's most prominent news anchors, will join NBC News, it was announced today by Andrew Lack, Chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group," NBC said in a statement.

"Kelly will become anchor of a new one-hour daytime program that she will develop closely with NBC News colleagues. The show will air Monday through Friday at a time to be announced in the coming months.

"As part of the multi-year agreement, Kelly will also anchor a new Sunday evening news magazine show and will become an important contributor to NBC's breaking news coverage as well as the network's political and special events coverage.

"Details about both of Kelly's news programs will be unveiled in the coming months."

Kelly took to Twitter later Tuesday afternoon to reflect on her move.

Kelly's departure brings to an end her 12-year tenure with the cable channel, one marked by controversy over the past few months.

Kelly released a memoir titled "Settle for More," accusing former chairman Roger Ailes of sexual harassment almost from the get-go, accusations Ailes has vehemently denied.

Ailes and Fox parted ways in July after several other women accused the former chief of sexual harassment, with the network and former anchor Gretchen Carlson reaching a $20 million settlement over Ailes' purported harassment.

The terms of Kelly's deal with NBC are undisclosed, The New York Times reported.

However, it is expected to dwarf the $15 million per year CBS News signed Katie Couric to back in 2006.
