Exxon Mobil might have lost up to a year of emails written by former CEO Rex Tillerson, according to testimony before the Manhattan Supreme Court, the New York Post reports.

Tillerson, now the U.S. secretary of state, used a pseudonym, "Wayne Tracker," when he sent the emails to discuss climate change from 2008 to 2015 The company said that climate change was not the only topic discussed in the emails, according to the Post.

Exxon spokesman Alan Jeffers said that the missing emails would not impact the ability to produce records. Many of the emails were recovered from other employees' accounts, the spokesman said.

The Chicago Tribune followed up with a report that nine months of the missing emails have been recovered.

On Wednesday, New York State Justice Barry Ostrager ordered Exxon to work with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to recover the lost emails, according to Reuters.
