Taking a dig at Gary Johnson, independent candidate Evan McMullin on Friday said he did not consider the Libertarian nominee to be "a serious candidate," according to the Politico

"He has no knowledge of foreign policy. He spends his time advocating for legalized prostitution and for a drug culture here in America, rather than dealing with problems that are really big, like our economy and national security and government reform," he said on CNN's "At This Hour" on Friday. "Gary Johnson just is not a serious candidate. What we really need to be talking about is Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump."

The independent candidate's comment comes days after Johnson's gaffe on the Syrian city Aleppo. During a televised show for MSNBC, Johnson asked, "And what is Aleppo?"

Johnson's campaign later clarified that he had "blanked".

"As Governor, there were many things I didn't know off the top of my head. But I succeeded by surrounding myself with the right people, getting to the bottom of important issues, and making principled decisions. It worked," Johnson said in a statement.

McMullin, who is running as an anti-Trump conservative, will appear on the ballot in Minnesota, Colorado, South Carolina, Louisiana, Utah, Arkansas, Idaho, Virginia, and Iowa. He has, however, missed the bus for bigger states like California.

Johnson, meanwhile, will feature on the ballot in all 50 states.

Candidates are required to reach 15 percent support in national polls to make it to the presidential debates, which commence later this month.

According to RealClear Polictics
, Johnson has been the closest third-party candidate to that, polling around 9 percent in national polls, while McMullin has been around 1 percent.
