Sen. Elizabeth Warren took aim at Republicans in the Senate, accusing them of purposefully blocking all of President Barack Obama's nominations to court positions, the Washington Times reports.

The Massachusetts Democrat issued a report that said, "For seven years, Senate Republicans have delayed votes on key nominations, including district and circuit court judges, key regulators, and foreign policy and national security officials."

It appears that Warren's criticism shows that the Democrats are expanding their attacks on Republicans beyond seeking confirmation of Merrick Garland for the Supreme Court.

In her report, Warren said that the Senate Republicans' blockade is "unique in both its scope and intensity."

The advocacy group Alliance for Justice said Senate Republicans, since they took control of the Senate in 2015, could end up with the lowest number of appointments in 60 years. 91 federal judge seats are vacant now, including 9 federal appeals court spots.

In his first term, Obama placed 173 judges on the bench. In their first terms, Bill Clinton placed 200 and Republican president George H.W. Bush placed 205, according to the Washington Times report.

Amy Brundage, a spokeswoman for the Constitutional Responsibility Project that is seeking Judge Garland's nomination, said that it appears Republicans are waiting to allow Donald Trump the chance to nominate the judges he wants if he becomes president.

"Justice is being pushed to the sidelines to make way for Donald Trump's hypothetical group of extremist judges who should implement Trump's radical plan for the country—including banning Muslims, punishing women who have abortions, and deporting 11 million immigrants," Brundage said, according to the Washington Times report.

Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley has said that he believes concern over Garland's appointment is declining.
