Donald Trump opened his luxe Palm Beach resort at a discount for a March 2014 fundraiser for Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi after she dropped an investigation into Trump University, the Huffington Post reported.

According to the outlet, the Republican Party of Florida paid $4,855.65 for the venue at Mar-a-Lago, which has charged about $140,000 to Trump's own presidential campaign when he holds events there.

Trump didn't make a campaign donation to her at the time, the Huffington Post noted.

The report comes in the wake of news Trump this year paid the IRS a $2,500 penalty after his Donald J. Trump Foundation didn't disclose it had made a $25,000 political contribution to Bondi in 2013. Trump Organization representatives said Trump reimbursed the foundation $25,000 from his personal account afterward.

Bondi had been investigating allegations against Trump University in Florida, and in September 2013 — three days before the Trump foundation donation to a pro-Bondi PAC — the Orlando Sentinel reported her office was considering joining the New York lawsuit against Trump University.

She ultimately did not, the Huffington Post noted.

Meanwhile, the liberal watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington is reportedly planning to file an IRS complaint against the Trump Foundation, asking the agency to investigate the $25,000 Bondi campaign gift.

The group charges it violated an IRS rule that prohibits "self-dealing" schemes in which nonprofit leaders use their charities' money to benefit themselves, the Washington Post reported

The watchdog group alleges Trump — as president of the foundation — gave the gift in order to influence Bondi as her office considered whether to pursue a probe against Trump University, the Post reported.

Both Trump and Bondi have rejected the idea the gift was intended to influence Bondi's decision-making about Trump University.

Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign last week accused the charitable foundation of "actual pay to play" politics with Bondi — even as Trump has repeatedly charged her with similar conflicts of interest regarding the Clinton Foundation, The Hill noted
