The rift between billionaire real estate developer and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Canadian rocker Neil Young might be getting bigger than the rift between Young and Lynyrd Skynyrd (which might not have been real anyway.)

Trump used Young's "Rockin' In the Free World" at his 2016-run announcement on June 16, and Young immediately issued a statement saying that Trump had not been authorized to use the song. Trump said he did license the song through ASCAP.

And to make matters worse, Young said he actually supports Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a socialist who is running in the Democratic primaries.

That didn't sit well with Trump, and lest you think time has faded away his anger, he took to Twitter on Wednesday with a series of missives to let the world know.

Trump said immediately after the flap that he and Young were good friends, and that Young had requested money from him for a music deal and had just invited him to a concert. He reitereated that on Twitter on Wednesday:

To back up his claim, he then tweeted a photo of himself and Young shaking hands in his office along with Young's signature on the funding request:

Besides, Trump said, "Rockin' In the Free World" was just one song of many used at the event – and it wasn't even that good:

Trump has a history of raking opponents over the coals on the social networking site, though he told Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity recently that he would drop the Twitter battles if he makes it into the White House.
