Donald Trump, Jr. on Thursday said the media has helped Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton by letting her "slide" on "every lie" and added that if Republicans did the same, the press would be "warming up the gas chamber" for them, BuzzFeed reports.

"The media has been her number one surrogate in this," Trump said on 1210 WPHT radio in Philadelphia. "Without the media, this wouldn't even be a contest, but the media has built her up. They've let her slide on every in-discrepancy, on every lie, on every DNC game trying to get Bernie Sanders out of this thing."

"If Republicans were doing that, they'd be warming up the gas chamber right now," he said. "It's a very different system, there's nothing fair about it."

Trump also suggested that the media had been trying hard to create a situation in which debate moderators weren't fair to his father.

Earlier, in another interview, when the younger Trump was asked why his father hadn't released his tax returns yet, he retorted by saying people across the country would start scrutinizing them, according to CBS News.

"Because he's got a 12,000-page tax return that would create... financial auditors out of every person in the country asking questions that would detract from [his father's] main message."
