GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump used the latest Anthony Weiner sexting scandal to call into question the judgment of his presidential rival Hillary Clinton.

Weiner, husband of Huma Abedin, a top aide to the Democratic nominee, made the front page of the New York Post on Monday for texting a picture of himself in his underwear with his young son lying beside him on his bed. His sexting partner was a woman in her 40s who told the Post she and Weiner shared explicit photos for 19 months, though they never met in person.

Abedin announced Monday she was separating from Weiner, to which Trump responded in a statement, "Huma is making a very wise decision. I know Anthony Weiner well, and she will be far better off without him."

But the latest sexting scandal is not the first for Weiner. He lost his seat in Congress in 2011 after lying about claims he had exchanged sexually explicit photos with multiple women. He attempted a political comeback in 2013 when he ran for mayor of New York City, but a second sexting scandal ended that quest, and he received less than 5 percent of the vote.

Trump has previously called Weiner "a sleezeball and a pervert," and questioned Clinton's judgment for having his wife as such a close confidant. He reiterated those concerns in his statement on Monday.

"I only worry for the country in that Hillary Clinton was careless and negligent in allowing Weiner to have such close proximity to highly classified information," he said.

"Who knows what he learned and who he told? It's just another example of Hillary Clinton's bad judgment. It is possible that our country and its security have been greatly compromised by this."
