A small group of black pastors and other faith leaders have voiced their support for Donald Trump, just days after the Republican presidential front-runner met with 100 ministers in an event that had originally been billed as an endorsement.

"It wasn't covered properly by the press," Trump said Wednesday about his meeting on Monday with the larger group at Trump Tower in New York. "It was really great."

Trump spoke at a rally in Manassas, Va. He then introduced the Rev. Steve Parson of Richmond Christian Center in Richmond, who put together a group of about 10 pastors whom the billionaire said were "all endorsers."

"People ask me, 'Well, why are you endorsing Donald Trump?'" Parson asked. "Well, in my opinion, he's the best and the only one who can beat Hillary Clinton.

"Listen, we've got to win. And one thing about Donald Trump is that he's a winner," Parson said. "Here's another thing, too: He knows how to create wealth.

"As a black minister, I can tell you this, we're right in the inner city and I tell you we need jobs, we need employment, we need businesses — and I tell you who better can help us help ourselves than Donald Trump," Parson said.

Parson was among the ministers at the Trump Tower meeting. Many of the pastors said that they were only planning to have a dialogue with the candidate, not officially endorse him.
