Donald Trump no longer questions whether President Barack Obama was born outside the United States, according to his campaign manager and at least one senior adviser.

The Republican presidential candidate "believes President Obama was born here," Kellyanne Conway told Chris Cuomo, host of CNN's "New Day." "I was born in Camden, by the way, New Jersey. He was born in Hawaii."

Trump was a prominent member of the "birther" movement, which questioned whether Obama was born in the U.S. and if he met a basic qualification to become president.

"He has told me that he is proud of the fact that he finally got Obama to produce his birth certificate," Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor and senior Trump adviser, said about the candidate Thursday on MSNBC, according to Politico.

Giuliani agreed that "Donald Trump believes now that [Obama] was born in the United States."

CNN notes that on Tuesday, appearing on Fox News, Trump declined to say that Obama was born in the U.S. He did say that he had "no idea" if his comments were partly to blame for his low polling numbers among African-Americans, but also that he didn't think they were.

"I don't even talk about it anymore," Trump said on Fox.

"I believe Barack Obama was born in Hawaii," Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, said to reporters. "I accept his birthplace."

Trump's former primary rival Dr. Ben Carson said that Trump should apologize for insinuating that Obama wasn't born in the U.S.

"I think that would be a good idea, absolutely. I suggest that on all sides. Let's get all of the hate and rancor out of the way so that we can actually discuss the issues," Carson said on CNN.
