The author of a book critical of the Clinton Foundation and the Department of State will debut a documentary based on the book at the Cannes Film Festival.

Peter Schweitzer's "Clinton Cash" became a bestseller after it hit stores last May. It presented a "pattern of behavior" that implies the Clinton Foundation and the State Department banded together on several deals.

Now a film version of the book will be shown at the annual gathering in France, which began Wednesday and runs through May 22.

"I think a lot of people that will see the film, if you are a conservative Republican you'll see the film and you'll agree," Schweitzer told the Washington Free Beacon. "I also think though that if you are a Bernie Sanders liberal you will watch this film and you will be equally outraged, if not more so.

"Because the basic premise of the film is that all of the things that the Clintons profess are so important to them, whether it's the environment, labor rights, or women's rights, they have chosen to monetize relationships with people who reject or run contrary to all of those values.

"And they have actually helped those individuals to enrich themselves by running counter to those values."

Schweitzer said he thinks Clinton's ongoing email scandal "is really a symptom of the larger problem, which is the way in which the Clintons have always interspersed money and power."

In a separate interview with The Daily Caller, Schweitzer said he has taken steps to ensure his personal safety since the book came out.

"There's a concern, not something directly related to the Clintons, but rather, concern over supporters that don't like what we've revealed." he said. "We try to be low-key, but you can't spend life looking over your shoulder."
