Christie to CPAC: No Hard Feelings

By    |   Wednesday, 27 Feb 2013 11:10 PM

Chris Christie has a message for the members of the Conservative Political Action Conference: No hard feelings.

New Jersey’s Republican governor was not invited to speak at next month’s annual gathering. To some, this is a major snub. Christie, on the other hand, doesn’t think it’s a big deal at all.

“So I didn’t know that I hadn’t been invited to CPAC until like two days ago when I saw it in the news,” Christie said in a clip posted on his YouTube page Wednesday.

“So, yeah, apparently I haven’t been invited,” Christie said.

“Listen, I wish them all the best. They’re gonna have their conference, they’re gonna have a bunch of people speaking there, they don’t want to invite me, that’s their call.

It’s their organization, it’s their business and they get to decide who they want to have come and not come.”

Christie said that he has plenty to do these days with or without appearing at CPAC.

“It’s not like I’m lacking for invitations to speak, both here or around the country, it’s not like I have a whole lot of openings in my schedule,” Christie said.

“I can’t sweat the small stuff. I got a state to rebuild. I can’t sweat the small stuff, ” Christie said in an obvious reference to the damage done to his state by Superstorm Sandy.

Not every Republican sees this as a slap in the face to Christie.

Speaking on CNN Wednesday, former Senator Rick Santorum said he believes the decision shows the diversity of the GOP.

“My feeling is… the great thing about the Republican Party is unlike the Democratic Party, there is a fair amount of diversity in our party,” Santorum said.

The Conservative Political Action Conference takes place March 14-16 in Washington, D.C.
