George W. Bush, the 43rd president of the United States, will release "Portraits of Courage," a book that contains his artwork and tributes to America's military and veterans.

The book will be released Feb. 28, 2017, according to Crown Publishing, in an announcement on its website.

The book will contain 66 full-color portraits and a four-panel mural of "service members and veterans who have served our nation with honor, and whom the President has come to know personally since leaving office."

The announcement said that Bush's mission since leaving office has been to support and honor veterans as they return to civilian life. "It is President Bush's hope that these stories of courage and resilience will honor our men and women in uniform, highlight their family and caregivers who bear the burden of their sacrifice, and help Americans understand how we can support our transitioning veterans and empower them to succeed," the announcement stated.

Bush will donate the net proceeds he receives from the book to the nonprofit George W. Bush Presidential Center. The center's Military Service Initiative supports veterans from the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and after to return to civilian life and help with "overcoming the invisible wounds of war," according to the announcement.

In the book's introduction, Bush writes, "This is a book about the men and women who have been tremendous national assets in the Armed Forces — and who continue to be vital to the future success of our country. The greatest honor of the presidency was looking them in the eye and saluting them as their Commander in Chief. And I intend to support and salute them for the rest of my life."

Bush wrote the stories about the veterans. "The reader will encounter the faces and the hearts of those who answered the nation's call and learn from their bravery on the battlefield, their journeys to recovery, and the continued leadership and contributions they are making as civilians," according to the publisher.

The announcement said that the paintings in the book would be part of an exhibition open to the public at the Bush Center in Dallas from March 2 through early October 2017. The Bush center's website called the book "a vibrant collection of oil paintings and stories by President George W. Bush honoring the sacrifice and courage of America's military veterans."

Bush has written two previous books: "41: A Portrait of My Father" in 2014 and "Decision Points" in 2010.

Bush has been making appearances for down-ballet Republicans across the U.S. to aid in their reelection efforts.
