A UK government spokesman has told Newsmax "no part of this story is true" in response to a report by Fox News contributor Andrew Napolitano that former President Barack Obama used a British spy agency to spy on President Donald Trump.

Napolitano told "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday that Obama bypassed every American spy agency, instead tapping the Government Communications Headquarters, "the British spying agency . . . [with] 24-7 access to the NSA database."

The alleged move by Obama effectively eliminated any trail leading back to the administration, he said.

"Three intelligence sources have informed Fox News that President Obama went outside the chain of command," Napolitano said. "There's no American fingerprints on this."

He said two people went to the GCHQ on Obama's behalf.

"President Obama needs transcripts of conversations involving candidate Trump, conversations involving President-elect Trump, he's able to get it," Napolitano told Fox.

"What happened to the guy who ordered this?" he asked. "Resigned three days after Donald Trump was inaugurated."

The British spokesman declined to comment further.
