Economically troubled Puerto Rico and Greece should rely on themselves to get out of their financial troubles, because the U.S. government has its own problems, Louisiana Gov. and GOP presidential candidate Bobby Jindal says.

Appearing Monday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto," Jindal said that no American taxpayer dollars should be used for a Greek bailout after the country's citizens voted on Sunday to reject an austerity plan. Greece last week became the first industrialized country to default to the International Monetary Fund.

"This is between the Greeks and the EU," Jindal said. "Puerto Rico is facing a similar situation. No American taxpayer dollars" for the U.S. territory, he said.

"I know the governor of Puerto Rico is trying to put politics in this, trying to threaten presidential candidates," Jindal said. "They need to cut government and grow their economy."

Jindal said he is just as worried about the United States, which has created a new healthcare entitlement even though it already is strapped with "massive debt."

"Greece is looking to Europe, Puerto Rico is looking everywhere," he said. Nobody's going to bail America out. We're the last hope for the free world."
