BBC Censors Israeli Minister's Photo of Terror Victim

A BBC News host ordered Israeli Economy Minister Naftali Bennett not to show a picture of one of the victims of Tuesday's terrorist rampage at a Jerusalem synagogue, The Algemeiner reports.

Bennett appeared on the BBC after a Palestinian representative who said Jews were murdering Palestinians in Jerusalem.

Bennett said Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas "incites and tells the Arabs to 'take arms and fight the Jews.'"

He then picked up a photograph of one of the victims of Tuesday's attack at the Kehilat Yaakov synagogue in Jerusalem, in which five people were killed.

"You know, this individual came this morning to pray," Bennett said, pointing to the picture.

"We don't want to see that picture —  if you can take that down," the BBC anchor said.

Bennett added that that morning in Jerusalem, countless Jews and Muslims went to pray across the city.

The Muslims, he said, made it home safely, "but four Jews will never come home again."

A fifth person – an Israeli security officer – later died of wounds he suffered in a gun battle with the terrorists.

The BBC host's effort to censor Bennett's picture drew fire from critics who noted that during this summer's war in Gaza, the network broadcast scores of pictures of Palestinians used as human shields by Hamas. Even though Israel went to great lengths to avoid civilian casualties, it was frequently depicted as the culpable party.

The BBC, "which was happy to show dead kids in Gaza all summer, declares 'we don't want to actually see that picture . . . Take that down,'" wrote Jonathan Sacerdoti, of the Campaign Against Antisemitism, a British organization.
