Former President Barack Obama is reportedly "ready to roll" — and is close to making a public reappearance in politics.

According to Politico, Obama's former Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday he'd been speaking with Obama about ways he would help a new National Democratic Redistricting Committee — including fundraising and involvement in state legislative races.

"It's coming. He's coming, Holder told reporters during a briefing for the new group, adding that Obama "will be a more visible part of the effort," Politico reported.

"And he's ready to roll."

Holder also predicted the off-year elections will go as expected — and that the GOP, as the party in the White House, will lose state legislative seats in off-year elections.

"I expect we'll see that on steroids with President Trump," Holder said, Politico reported.

The new group is aiming to address the party's disadvantage because of gerrymandering —and will focus on winning targeted state elections, pushing ballot initiatives for nonpartisan district-drawing commissions and waging legal challenges to existing maps, according to Politico.

"This is really a battle for our democracy," Holder said, Politico reported. "The notion that people are denied their ability to cast a meaningful vote... is inconsistent with who we say we are, inconsistent with what we say our democracy is about."
