Arnold Schwarzenegger's one season of hosting "Celebrity Apprentice" was his last, as he announced in a new interview he would not return to the show because of President Donald Trump.

Schwarzenegger spoke with entertainment news website Empire and confirmed he's finished with the reality program.

"It's not about the show because everyone I ran into came up to me and said, 'I love the show . . . but I turned it off because as soon as I read Trump's name, I'm outta there!'" Schwarzenegger said.

"NBC did everything they could to promote the show and [producer] Mark Burnett did a fantastic job. No one really knew that this was going to happen and I think that everyone was caught off guard."

Schwarzenegger blamed the fact that Trump is still listed on the show's credits as an executive producer while serving in the White House.

"When people found out that Trump was still involved as executive producer and was still receiving money from the show, then half the people [started] boycotting it," Schwarzenegger said.

"Even if asked [to do it again] I would decline. With Trump being involved in the show people have a bad taste and don't want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show. It's a very divisive period now and I think this show got caught up in all that division."

After the season 15 premiere aired Jan. 2, Trump criticized Schwarzenegger and the episode's low ratings compared to the first season's premiere. Schwarzenegger fired back shortly after, saying he hoped Trump would work as hard in the White House as he did to get good ratings on his TV show.

Trump shot back on Twitter Saturday morning, saying he was not the problem.
