Recently I developed a bad habit: I go to bed early. But, then, there is a good side to it. I get up early in the morning with enough energy to last me for the day.
I had no intention to voice my thoughts about the ongoing presidential race. But the constant telephone calls from my friends were so insistent that I decided to answer them in my column.
First, I watched the Democratic National Convention. The first lady introduced her husband — the sitting President Barack Obama. Did she tell me anything new? I heard her speak four years ago, when I knew nothing about Obama. At that time listening to her speak about her husband made sense.
This time I didn’t quite understand why all those present should again listen to the same story. Over the past four years the country came to know all there is to know about Mr. Obama and much more — even something the first lady did not want us to know. After all, those who have eyes and ears must have realized that those big lies spun and delivered from the podium were meant to excite the potential voting public.
The melodramatic stories by Nancy Pelosi, Clinton, Kerry, Biden, and other Obama adoring devotees insulted my intelligence as well as the intelligence of many other Americans present in the audience.
The speeches were delivered in a fiery, shrill, revolutionary manner one can often hear on the streets of Manhattan from the self-proclaimed priests. The speakers intended to extol the unique qualities of the president: his exclusivity, his kindness, his bravery, his wisdom, his wise handling of foreign policy, and so on and so forth. Said VP Biden: “Our journey of hope is not yet finished.”
I know it would be a no-no, a violation of the rules, but wasn’t there a single person in the audience who would stand up and say: Why do we have to listen to all that four-year-old sentimental fluff?
Four years ago, we voted for you, Mr. President; we believed your fairy tales and your promises you have never kept. Now we are telling you: You failed us, you failed our country on every promise you made four years ago — that you’ll be strong on our country’s defense, that you’ll create jobs, and raise the standards of our children’s education (“Help me bring more teachers within 10 years.”).
Instead, you added trillions of dollars to our country’s national debt; the country’s unemployment is above 8 percent; you are planning to cut $487 billion from American defense budget, downsizing our troops. And now you are standing before us with empty hands, having nothing to show, seeking a second term.
The programs Obama was bragging about had been started by the previous administration, a fact he never mentions. Said VP Biden: “All these ambitious plans are not yet finished. We are not there yet. We need more time.” So four years were not enough? Obama needs another four years, during which he will destroy the country and realize his left-wing, socialist, Marxist ideas. Sounds like the Soviet socialist utopia of 1917.
With the help of his liberal friends, multi-million donations from socialist George Soros and left-wing Hollywood admirers, Obama will finish off the country “as we know it.” By his irresponsible actions, Obama will bankrupt America and turn it into another socialist European Union, which is falling apart at the seams.
And one more thing: Why have you, Mr. President, “innocently overlooked” to have checked the DNC platform lines about God and Jerusalem — the reference to God was omitted and Jerusalem was not mentioned as the capital of Israel.
It was only after those facts were noticed and brought up by the Republican media that Obama expressed his “genuine” surprise at the omissions and demanded that those words be put back into the text (though not entirely!).
Speaking about Obama’s foreign-policy experience and keeping our country strong, let me remind you that Obama allowed a group of Chinese military generals to examine American sensitive military bases never before accessible to an outsider.
Let me also remind you Obama’s plea for political help from Russian President Putin to get himself re-elected! Obama said he would have “more flexibility” to reciprocate by dismantling missile defense system the Russians do not want close to their border. And sure enough, a few days ago Putin praised Obama and said Obama needs more time to complete the job. On March 26, 2012, Obama vowed “to pursue further nuclear cuts with Russia,” according to Reuters news service.
Sounds like good advice from the ex-KGB spy Mr. Putin? After all, he got himself elected for a third term, and the Russians now call him “our Tsar Putin”! Good job,
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney seized on Obama’s comment, calling it “alarming and troubling.”
On September 7, responding to the British journalist in his first TV interview after his inauguration on Russia Today, Putin said: “I believe that Obama is a sincere man who wants to make drastic changes in his country [!] . . . but the conservative State Department does not give Obama the chance to make real changes in U.S.-Russia relations.”
I enjoyed the Republican National Convention. I enjoyed the way Ann Romney introduced her husband: calmly, with no shrills. To me, her story was very touching — it was the first time that I learned things about her husband.
And in general, the tone of the RNC Convention was dignified and businesslike. Romney’s “Staples” store, for example, on which I depend for my supplies, is next to where we live. I admire the business-like way it is being run: polite managers and salesmen, always ready to assist you.
Let me finish with the words of former mayor of Carmel, Calif., Clint Eastwood, in his interview to The Pine Cone (Sept. 7, 2012), since I cannot say it any better: “President Barack Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.” And “Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that is what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.”
My fellow Americans, now is our last chance to stop Obama and his left-wing followers, with their utopian Marxist-socialist ideals, from irreversibly destroying our country by giving our votes to Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.
