Although the Obama Kool-Aide drinkers will vehemently deny it, I’m convinced the former (thank goodness) president’s lasting legacy will be "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor." Assuming you can find your doctor.

Newsmax informs us that in a single month Anthem — the largest for-profit managed health care company in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association — is shutting off the Obamacare health insurance ventilator in three more states.

Anthem has pulled the plug on individual Obamacare exchanges in Ohio and Wisconsin. Even more significant, Anthem is pulling out of the market in its home state of Indiana. If you can’t make a profit in the state where you’re based, I doubt the company will be in any individual exchange in the very near future.

Anthem blames the failure on the "shrinking and deteriorating individual market, as well as continual changes and uncertainty in federal operations." The individual market is deteriorating because people don’t want to buy an insurance product designed in Washington by bureaucrats, academics, and lobbyists who think they know better than everyone else.

You’ll notice people have no problem buying life insurance, home insurance, or renter’s insurance. Why? Mostly because the federal government doesn’t try to build a one-size-fits-all-and-every-eventuality monstrosity. People buy what they need and prices are kept in check by competition, not regulation.

Even with a dying product like Obamacare, the lies continue. As you no doubt know, Congress is trying to "repeal and replace" Obamacare. I’m afraid they have convinced themselves Republican meddling and interference in the health insurance marketplace is a vast improvement over Democrat meddling and interference.

But they are wrong. No interference in the marketplace beats Democrat interference. Yet even with this timid, tentative effort to put lipstick on the Obamacare pig, former speaker Nancy Pelosi can’t tell the truth.

The Washington Post "fact checkers" rated her claim that GOP tinkering with Obamacare will cost jobs as false. Pelosi hyperventilated, "Americans will lose their health coverage because of his proposal. And it is a job loser. Estimated to be 1.8 million jobs lost. Donald Trump is a job loser."

It’s completely untrue. Obamacare isn’t a job creator; it’s a job retardant. Pelosi would have you think government spending creates jobs and lack of spending costs jobs, but that’s a false equivalency. Government takes money from the private economy, skims 30 or 40 percent off the top and then spends the reduced sum.

If the money had been left in the private economy, all of it could have been used to create or sustain jobs. The federal government has no business trying to run one-sixth of the economy from Washington, D.C. The sooner it leaves healthcare and health insurance to the competitive marketplace, the better.
