Flag-Burners Show Lack of Gratitude Toward Police

The New York Post had an interesting holiday item. A group of demonstrators angry for no particular reason and hoping for TV coverage held a protest in a Brooklyn city park to protest the “brutal, bigoted” New York Police Dept.

This is the same police department that ran into burning World Trade Center towers on 9/11, dropped the crime rate to a level not seen since the 1950s and in the process saved thousands of black lives.

The group is called Disarm the Police and a few dozen gathered in Fort Greene Park to show their displeasure with a safe city and low crime rates by burning an American flag. The Post explains, “While it’s illegal to openly burn anything in Fort Greene Park, the self-styled anarchists managed to find a loophole in the law that allows cooking in closed barbecue grills.”

The counter–cultural cook–off was announced on social media in an effort to increase the size of the crowd. It increased the crowd all right, but it also attracted a big group of flag–waving counter protesters, including 40 members of the Hallowed Sons Motorcycle Club.

An organizer lit the heroic hibachi and put Old Glory on to roast. But it appears the chef bit off more than he could chew.

It’s been said these colors don’t run and evidently they don’t burn well either because, as the Post described it, “One of the bikers rushed forward in a fit of rage and kicked over the grill, sending embers flying. He then doused it as members of the pro-flag crowd chanted “USA! USA!”

Then bikers began grilling the protestors, so to speak, and their fannies had to be pulled out of the fire by members of the same police force the demonstrators were protesting.

“They took off like little b***hes,” said one biker was quoted as observing. “They lit the . . . flag and took off running once they got slapped once or twice.”

“I served in the Marines,” said counter–protester Brian Christopher, 23. “We defend this flag. We are ready to die for it. When I see people burning it and showing complete ignorance, it’s very offensive.”

The NYPD formed a human shield around the singed shouters and escorted them out of the park. The Post said no arrests were made and there was no indication that the protestors thanked the police for saving their bacon.
