Flight From Chicago to Washington, D.C., Diverted

Tuesday, 30 Mar 2010 07:02 AM

An American Eagle flight from Chicago to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was diverted to Dulles International Airport.

American Eagle spokesman Tim Smith says Flight 4117 landed safely with 45 passengers aboard around 11:50 p.m. Monday.

Smith says when the crew became aware of a security concern during the flight and reported it, the Transportation Security Administration advised them to land at Dulles in northern Virginia instead of Reagan. He said he could not get into the details about what the security concern was.

TSA spokeswoman Andrea McCauley says the flight was cleared at Dulles. She did not have details about why the plane was diverted.

Smith says most passengers left the airport on their own, while others were offered transportation.
