Ron Paul: 50-50 Chance I'll Run Again for Prez

Monday, 13 Dec 2010 06:00 PM

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul says “it’s at least 50-50 that I’ll run again” for the presidency, depending partly on the state of the economy, according to The New York Times. The Texas Republican seemed surprised about suggestions on some websites that he team up with his son, newly elected Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., to launch a dual “Paul/Paul 2012” ticket, the Times reported.

Ron Paul, president, Rand Paul, New York TimesPaul brushed off suggestions that the midterm elections last month that swept Republicans back into control of the House were a vindication of his beliefs on reducing debt and strictly following the Constitution. “I don’t think it’s very personal,” he told the Times during an extensive interview. “People are really worried about what’s happening, so they’re searching, and I think they see that we’ve been offering answers.”

Paul also told the Times that, when the new Congress convenes, he will be sharing his Virginia condominium with his senator son — with the provision that his son doesn’t expect him to cook. “I’m not going to take care of him the way his mother did,” Paul said.
