Palin Impressed With Cain but Undecided on Endorsing

Sarah Palin says she is impressed with businessman Herman Cain’s run for the Republican nomination for president but has not decided whether she will endorse a candidate in the GOP primaries.

Palin told Greta Van Susteren during an interview on Fox News Wednesday night that she struggled with her ultimate decision not to seek the presidency in 2012 and believes now more than ever that “you don't need a title to make a difference in this country.”

“I think that I'm proof of that,” the former Alaska governor and outspoken tea party favorite said.

But Palin said she won’t sit on the sidelines in next year’s elections. She hinted that she is scheduling appearances to help candidates running for the Senate and House. She also suggested that several GOP presidential candidates are courting her, hoping for an endorsement.

When Van Susteren asked Palin whom she likes in the race, the GOP’s 2008 vice-presidential candidate said, “There is no one perfect candidate, and I want people to keep that in mind and not be extremely disappointed in a politician.

“A politician is going to let you down,” she continued. “They’re going to make decisions that you don't entirely agree with. And you can’t just lose hope in what that politician's ideas reflect and represent.”

But Palin said she has been impressed with Cain, who has been rising in the polls with each GOP presidential debate.

“I’m not surprised. Herman Cain is not a politician,” she said. “He has the business acumen and that background in the private sector, knowing how to create jobs and meet a bottom line and understanding the work ethic. He’s pulled himself up from the bootstraps.

“That’s that Americana story that so many of us are intrigued with and impressed with,” she said.
