A published reports says the Office of Congressional Ethics is conducting a preliminary review of U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s efforts to be appointed to the U.S. Senate by ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported in a story on its Web site Tuesday that the ethics office voted for the review in late March.
Blagojevich was indicted by a federal grand jury last week on charges that, among other things, he schemed to sell the Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama to the highest bidder.
Jackson has acknowledged he is the unnamed "Senate Candidate A" in the Blagojevich criminal complaint. He has not been charged with any wrongdoing.
Messages left for Jackson's office weren't immediately returned Tuesday.
