Former Utah Republican Gov. Jon Huntsman, who recently quit his job as ambassador to China, has kept his views quiet about President Barack Obama as he considers his own bid for the presidency in 2012, The Hill reports
During his 18 months on the job, Huntsman has shied away from offering praise or criticism of the White House on almost any foreign or domestic issue beyond China policy. That reticence gives him more flexibility as he decides whether to run for president.
Huntsman announced his resignation Monday, effective April 30. He has given only a handful of interviews to the U.S. media, the Hill reports. He hasn’t commented about healthcare reform, climate-change policy or the tea party movement.
In November of 2009, Huntsman wouldn’t assess the Obama administration’s performance. “I don’t do politics,” he told CNBC.
