SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Former Hewlett-Packard Co. chief executive Carly Fiorina says she is "seriously considering" running for public office in California next year.
Fiorina made the comments Tuesday at the Technology Policy Institute in Washington, a conservative think tank that recently named Fiorina its chairwoman.
The 54-year-old Republican was an economic adviser to GOP presidential nominee John McCain last year.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Fiorina said she was considering a contest against Democratic U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer.
Her chief of staff, Deborah Bowker, said Fiorina was not available Wednesday for comment.
Boxer campaign consultant Rose Kapolczynski says the senator has more money and is more organized than ever. She says a Boxer-Fiorina contest would offer voters a clear choice.
