Rove Group Video: Obama's Math Is Just Wrong

Conservative interest group Crossroads GPS (Grassroots Policy Strategies) released a new Internet video Wednesday, playing on a line in President Barack Obama’s budget speech that his proposal for tax increases resulted from simple math, rather than class warfare.

The video from Crossroads, which Republican guru Karl Rove helped form, used some math of its own to show that Obama’s economic policies have failed.

The video includes three equations on a blackboard. One shows the current unemployment rate of 9.1 percent next to the January 2009 unemployment rate of 7.8 percent and notes that 2.3 million more people are unemployed now.

Story continues below video.

The second equation shows that the government debt now totals $14.6 trillion, compared with $10.6 trillion when Obama took office in January 2009, meaning an increase of $4 trillion.

The final equation cites 45 million people on food stamps, $3.60-a-gallon gas prices, a 12.87 misery index, 14 million people unemployed, and Obama’s proposed $1.5 trillion tax increase. That adds up to “failed Obama economics,” the video reads.

"Barack Obama needs to learn that class warfare tax policy may be a good short-term political tactic, but it doesn’t revive a sick economy,” said Crossroads GPS communications director Jonathan Collegio.
