Beware OTC and Prescription Side Effects

I have written before that when you see a medication advertisement on television or in other media, there is always a very long line of complications and side effects. Well, recently the Institute for Natural Healing and Health Science Institute have both published data about the significant risks of medications.

Some of the drugs mentioned by the Institute for Natural Healing (INH) are blood thinners, statin drugs, drugs to treat osteoporosis, and anxiety drugs. The list from the Health Science Institute (HSI) includes drugs for diabetes, arthritis, hypertension, statins and drugs for sleep, including Ambien, which presents a risk even if you take only 18 tablets in a year.

The data now being presented is that over-the-counter and prescription drug medications account for a significant number of deaths per year. In fact, approximately 106,000 people are dying from complications of these drugs each year. This makes our over-the-counter and prescription drugs the number three cause of death in the United States.

This type of information needs to be more widely available.

And remember that over-the-counter and prescription medications only treat the symptoms; they do not correct the underlying cause of the symptoms. This is, in my opinion, why we are moving more and more back to holistic medicine.

To obtain additional information on the dangers of the over-the-counter and prescription medications from the Institute for Natural Healing, go to the website inhresearch.com/contactus. For data on the Health Science Institute publications, go to HSIonline.com.

In addition, HSI director Jenny Thompson has published a book called “Miracles From the Vault, an Anthology of Underground Cures” that contains this information and provides data concerning the naturals ways of treating different conditions to avoid the risks of the over-the-counter and prescription drugs.

“Miracles From the Vault” can be obtained for free by obtaining a membership with HSI.

We need to better appreciate the significant risks provided by our over-the-counter and prescription medications, remembering that the statin drugs are almost the number one drug prescribed, and the fact that the FDA two years ago gave a publication indicating that statins were associated with significant memory loss.

This information has not been published except by the INH and HSI publications and certainly is not incorporated in the television ads and the news media ads for statins that I see.
