Because of their effect on so many cell-signaling mechanisms and antioxidant systems, ginseng species are being shown to benefit a number of medical conditions.

For example, Korean red ginseng has been found to have powerful antifungal activity. It also promotes hair growth in cases of DHT-related hair loss.

One of the more important uses of ginseng is for reducing complications and high death rates associated with generalized infections (sepsis) that spread throughout the body and blood.

American ginseng protected multiple organs and prevented septic shock.

One double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study found that Korean red ginseng increased the sperm count among 80 males treated in a fertility clinic.

Panax ginseng and Korean red ginseng were both found to shrink enlarged prostate glands in testosterone induced BPH in animals thus preventing benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH).

One study found that Korean red ginseng significantly reduces the incidence of acute respiratory illnesses, such as the flu.

Finally, several of the ginseng species may protect against cytokine storms seen with influenza infections and with vaccine complications. Panax notoginseng was shown to powerfully inhibit intense inflammatory reactions to immune stimulation.

With the specter of government mandated vaccinations on the horizon, this may be a useful thing to keep in mind.
