Dr. Russell Blaylock: "Cures" That Can Be Worse Than The Disease

By    |

Are you concerned about ‘cures’ that are worse than the disease? Do pharmaceuticals that are more dangerous than the medical problems they are meant to address worry you?

With Big Pharma getting bigger all the time, it’s more important than ever to understand how drugs work, what they’re meant to do, and what possible side effects could lead to serious health complications.

Dr. Russell Blaylock, a nationally recognized, board-certified neurosurgeon, health practitioner, author and lecturer, knows that cholesterol-reducing drugs (or statins, as they're called) may not reduce your chances of a heart attack or stroke, as relentless advertising campaigns claim.

In fact, Dr. Blaylock explains that drugs like Lipitor, Zocor, Pravachol, Crestor and Mevacor carry serious health risks for the 12 million Americans taking them, which can include the destruction of muscle, liver damage and suppression of the immune system while increasing your risk of cancer. Remember when statins like Baycol had to be pulled from the market due to multiple deaths?

Drug companies hope you don’t.

They also hope you don’t find out that the benefits of statin cholesterol-lowering drugs are no better than taking a 1-cent aspirin a day!

Dr. Russell Blaylock attended Louisiana State University and completed his internship and neurological residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. For 26 years, he practiced neurosurgery in addition to having a nutritional practice. Now he is retired from his neurosurgical duties to devote his full attention to disseminating information about health, nutrition and pharmaceuticals that most Americans don’t know.

After all, most doctors are too busy to follow the latest research. Dr. Blaylock sorts it all out in the Blaylock Wellness Report and as health editor of Newsmax. He’s written books such as Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills, Health and Nutrition Secrets That Can Save Your Life and Natural Strategies for Cancer Patients and is an in-demand guest for radio and TV programs, lecturing extensively to both lay audiences and other physicians on a variety of nutrition-related subjects.

Dr. Russell Blaylock is the 2004 recipient of the Integrity in Science Award granted by the Weston A. Price Foundation and serves on the editorial staff of the Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.

Another warning you won’t hear from many other doctors or from pharmaceutical companies is that drugs commonly prescribed for children with attention deficit disorder or hyperactivity disorder may cause neurological problems later in life.

Dr. Blaylock does not consider stimulant drugs safe, and he cites a number of studies showing long-term problems with behavior and social adjustment among kids who took them. These medications are also associated with excitotoxicity in deep brain structures.

Instead, doctors should test ADHD kids for common food allergies, he says, noting that improving brain energy production, which can often be impaired in cases of ADHD/autism, can be accomplished with high doses vitamin B12, moderate doses of folate, pyridoxal-5 phosphate, and niacinamide.

It’s important to work with a neurologist who understands the metabolic basis of this disorder, says Dr. Blaylock.
