A new study of 3,431 US consumers finds that the vast majority of travelers are well informed about Zika and are not letting the virus change their plans.

According to the Travel Leaders Group, 87.1% of those polled have heard about the virus. What's more, only 0.6% of respondents said that Zika had caused them to cancel a trip.

"Clearly, many American travelers are informed about Zika, whether from the news media, the CDC or from the conversations our travel agents are having with them on a daily basis," said Travel Leaders Group CEO Ninan Chacko. "What this consumer survey data indicates to us is that Americans are fairly well-educated on Zika and are moving forward with their travel plans."

However, only 21.2% of US travelers questioned have visited a country with a confirmed case of Zika in 2016 and just 23.2% intend to visit one of those countries during the course of the year, compared with 30.9% who simply said "no" and a further 29.3% that responded that they had no intention of visiting.
