Virtual Colonoscopy Spots Cancers Outside Colon

Tuesday, 24 Aug 2010 09:04 AM

Virtual colonoscopy, which is less invasive than traditional colonoscopy, says HealthDay, gives doctors a peek at the entire abdomen and pelvis in addition to the inside of the colon.

In regard to finding lesions outside of the colon, a virtual colonoscopy "increased the odds of identifying high-risk lesions by 78 percent," according to study author Dr. Ganesh Veerappan.
