Are Drugs Best for Arthritis Pain?

By    |   Wednesday, 20 May 2015 03:47 PM

Question: How should I manage my arthritis pain? Are drugs the best way?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

Arthritis is best managed by treating the cause and not its symptoms alone.

Auto-immune and immune-based disorders can be induced into remission fairly easily. Degenerative disorders can often be at least slowed down by many simple measures. But no arthritis disorders involving joint disease and destruction should be left alone, untreated or treated only through pain medication, because that can lead to permanent disability.

Drugs are not always be the right answer. You will need to consult a medical professional to guide you here, as much depends upon your history and physical status.

No couch chair therapy or Internet searching will lead you to the best option. Seek the assistance of a professional.
