Rapid Weight Loss

Question: I am a woman in her 50s who has lost 35 pounds in eight months. I had a thyroid biopsy and an iodine test and both were normal. What further steps do you recommend?

Dr. Hibberd's Answer:
Did you try to lose the weight by dieting or exercising? Or is it an unintentional weight loss? Other than just having an iodine test, there are other tests that you might have to take if this has been an unintentional weight loss. There are many causes for such a weight loss, and you need to visit your primary care physician who will run other tests for you.
