Hormone Help for Fatigue

By Erika Schwartz, M.D   |   Friday, 18 Apr 2014 12:25 PM

As some of us inch our way closer to menopause, the loss of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, and the stress on the adrenal glands take their toll, and fatigue is one of the most serious and omnipresent symptoms. Hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, weight gain, itching, depression, anxiety, irritability, loss of libido, and other symptoms also are common.
But hormone supplementation can help eliminate them so we can regain our energy and keep enjoying life now that the kids are out of the house and we can reclaim our home and partner.
The only hormones to use are bioidentical, human-identical replicas of the hormones we made when we were young, full of energy, and not suffering with fatigue or any other symptoms. These hormones are made from soy and yam oils, and are manufactured by pharmaceutical processes for concentration and purification.
The hormones come in a very fine powder that contains molecules that look identical to our own human hormone molecules. This powder is specifically mixed in creams or gels to make the compounded hormones that a compounding pharmacy then makes as per a physician prescription for the individual patient.
You can get the same hormones in Food and Drug Administration-approved preparations offered in patches, gels, and tablets also by prescription from your local drugstore. The key is to work with a doctor who is knowledgeable and conventionally trained in how to use bioidentical hormones in prevention and wellness. The problem is that too many doctors now say they know how to prescribe hormones, but they mix all the hormones together and the results are less than desirable. Work with a doctor who uses the hormones separately so they can be tweaked as needed over time.
The hormones will immediately improve your energy level. You will find yourself feeling less fatigued, able to sleep again, and ready to take on the world with renewed energy. Once your hormones are in balance, you will find it easy to sleep, to eat the right foods, and to exercise. All the pieces of your puzzle will be in place and you will enjoy your life again.
