In many cases, especially among the elderly, dry skin is secondary to deficiency in particular types of oils in the diet. CLA in a dose of 1,000 mg a day has helped many people, and GLA is also reported to help in a dose of 500 mg twice a day.
The main therapy is fish oils. I prefer the Carlson brand of liquid fish oil, which has a lemon taste. Two tablespoons a day usually improves the condition.
It is also important to take a balanced multivitamin/mineral, natural vitamin E, and vitamin D3 in a dose of 5,000 IU a day.
