Favoring Muslim Brotherhood a Bad US Plan

Late last year, President Al-Sisi of Egypt went to Islam’s Vatican, Al-Azhar University. He directly criticized its leaders for their role in alienating Muslims from the rest of the world by encouraging jihad, or holy war.

Late last week, a jihadist group whose misrule al-Sisi ended in Egypt, issued a statement of its own. The Muslim Brotherhood, the world’s most assiduous promoter of Muslim alienation and holy war worldwide declared “a long and uncompromising jihad . . . and ask[ed] for martyrdom.”

So which of these Egyptians did the Obama State Department host in Washington, D.C. last Tuesday? If you guessed the jihadists, rather than the man trying to defeat them, you would be right.

Mr. President, when you treat our enemies better than our friends, we’ll have more enemies and fewer friends. That’s a bad plan.
