Obama Adviser Sperling: No 'Double Dip' Recession

Sunday, 31 Jul 2011 11:26 AM

White House economic adviser Gene Sperling said on "Fox News Sunday" he was "not worried the U.S. will have a double-dip recession" and urged Congress to approve an increase in the debt limit as a way to give certainty to financial markets.

Sperling said the debt uncertainty was "a self-inflicted wound" that contributed to lower U.S. economic growth as did external events including higher gasoline prices and the downturn in the U.S. auto industry in the first half of 2011.
