Trump for President — Just What the US Economy Needs

By Bill Spetrino   |   Friday, 05 Nov 2010 09:49 AM

The other day on Fox news, Donald Trump mentioned for the first time that he is serious considering a run for the presidency in 2012. Trump said he is "worried about the direction the country is going in," referring to the multi-trillion dollar national debt, among other problems.

"We are rebuilding China. Everything is made in China. It's scary," said Trump who acknowledged that when his company builds buildings many of the materials, including windows, are ordered from China.

"Do we make anything in this country anymore?" quipped the New York City resident.

Trump says he is a registered Republican and would seek the GOP nomination if he decides to run.

Personally I am in favor of Trump running for office for three reasons.

First, he has actually run a business and is an experienced negotiator. I can tell you that dealing with the Chinese and Russians would not be one sided if Trump was in charge. He will not hire power hungry academicians who have no real-world knowledge but instead will hire experienced businessmen and women who he knows has practical knowledge.

The second reason is Trump does not need the money that goes with being president. He is already a multibillionaire and trying to bribe him would be an exercise in futility. For Trump it is simply about accomplishing another challenge.

Third, Trump does not feel obliged to support labor unions, trial lawyers or big business or any constituency to raise money. He is friends with many multibillionaires who are patriots who love America and will deal with the severe problems of the solvency of Social Security and Medicare.

Our forefathers, when devising government, expected accomplished people after they finished their first career to serve their country. They never envisioned professional politicians who never had a job outside the public sector.

Many critics of Trump will say he is too rich to understand people’s basic needs and is too egotistical. I strongly disagree.

People choose to listen to Trump. That’s why they watch his show and buy his products.

Our country has two serious problems — the debt and unemployment. No politician has the business acumen to solve this like Trump does. Let’s hope he can be persuaded.
