Sarah Palin Confronts Press at Time Gala

Wednesday, 05 May 2010 07:37 PM

Despite being among some of the world’s most famous celebrities, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin took the opportunity during Time magazine's recent “100 Most Influential People in the World” gala to strike back at the rather unfriendly New York media.

At times, it seemed that the other “influential” honorees at the dinner were paying homage to Palin.

“Photographers, fans, and, yes, reporters like us swarmed her from the second she walked in the room with husband Todd and her 9-year-old daughter Piper,” New York reports on its website.

Film director “Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann practically jumped her for a photo op — though, granted, they did the same to Betty White.”

Although the mainstream media often lambaste Palin, she said she was happy to be in New York and talked fondly about jogging in Central Park.

She also said she is a fan of Time pundit Joe Klein but didn’t hesitate to set the record straight with some reporters.

"I did talk to a couple of reporters already and said that a bunch of stuff that they write is bogus, but we had a great conversation about it and we agreed to disagree on a lot of things," the former Alaska governor said.

"One thing we can all agree on, though, is how much we respect and want to protect the freedom of the press and we have that in common, so at the end of the day, I think as long as we’re protecting that and not abusing the right — we have to be writing truth — then we’ll get along just fine tonight."
